About the listing
Description: Best’s Wines Great Western is one of Australia’s ‘best kept’ winery secrets. Founded in 1866, they are family-owned and operated with some of the oldest and rarest grape vines in the world. Shiraz, Cabernet and Riesling are their specialties; however they also produce small-parcel wines that are available taste and purchase at their cellar door. The truly memorable Concongella Cellar Door is the heart of Best’s operation and is housed in the original stables. Henry Best’s journal, with entries dating back to 1866, is on display, along with artifacts and historic family photos. Visitors can take a tour of the original 1870’s underground cellars, and view the original Nursery Block plantings, both of which are a significant slice of Australian wine history. Guests can enjoy a range of tasting experiences to suit any palate, ‘Pick a Platter’ cheese boards as well as special events throughout the year.
